CITY ABBATOIR SET FOR UPGRADING

With a P5-million grant from the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), the city government of Iriga is set to rehabilitate its abattoir in barangay Sta. Cruz Sur here, City Veterinarian Dr. Laure Nagrampa bared.

The abattoir butchers about 40 heads a day, but its operation and facilities need to be upgraded, he said.

As a solution, the city accessed the grant facility of the NMIS which it opens to local government units with registered abattoir and which have not availed of the same grant, he added.

Nagrampa said that part of the rehabilitation will be the upgrading and mechanization of some of its operations.

He expressed hope that the project will be finished before the year ends.
